INTRODUCTION TO GEOTHERMIC Today, a quick search on Google would offer something close to one million links for the word " geothermal". This illustrates a growing common interest with regard to the renewable energy sources in the subsoil. Until relatively recently, the opportunities for the exploitation of geothermal resources were limited to areas associated with certain geological conditions, with high temperatures at depths close to the surface. Over the last 25 years, due to the development and expansion of the heat pump technology, it has emerged another application geothermal energy; although its basic principles have been described by Lord Kelvin already in 1852, the concept of "low-temperature geothermal energy" has been largely ignored until the domestic technology of heat pumps ( refrigeration and air conditioning ) has entered a phase mass production.
